Sheel keeps your training on your phone. There is no Sheel account, no Sheel server, and no analytics of any kind.
Sheel is a workout planner and rest timer that runs entirely on your phone. Your workouts, your programs, your settings and your training history are stored in the app’s own private storage on the device and nowhere else.
There is no Sheel account to create, because there is no Sheel server to hold one. Nobody at Sheel can see your training, and there is no mechanism by which they could: the app has no address to send it to.
Everything the app knows about you is written to files in its own private storage, which only Sheel can read and which Android removes when the app is uninstalled:
No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, no ad networks, no tracking of any kind. The app contains no analytics SDK, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Sheel does not ask for your name, your email address, your age, your weight, your location or your contacts.
Sheel is usable with no network connection at all. It does not check for updates: the app you installed is the app that runs, and a new version only ever arrives as an install from Google Play.
There are four occasions on which it makes a request, and no others:
Backup is off until you turn it on. If you do, you sign in to your own Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive or Dropbox account and Sheel writes a backup file there on the cadence you choose. The file goes into that provider’s private area for Sheel so the app can only see files it put there itself, and not the rest of your documents.
The backup file contains your workouts and nothing else. It does not contain your settings, your tokens or anything about your device.
Sheel requests the narrowest permission each provider offers and never asks to read your other files. Your sign-in happens in the system browser, so the app never sees your password; the resulting token is stored in the Android keystore. You can disconnect at any time on the Backup screen, and revoke Sheel’s access in your provider’s own security settings.
Your data in that account is then subject to your provider’s privacy policy, not this one. Sheel has no access to the account beyond its own folder, and no copy of what is in it.
This section is about Google Drive in particular, because Google requires an app that asks for access to your Drive to say plainly what it does with it.
Sheel asks for one Google permission, and only when you connect Drive on the Backup screen: the app data folder scope. That grants access to a private folder Drive keeps for Sheel alone. It does not grant, and Sheel never requests, the ability to see, list or open any other file in your Drive.
Sheel uses what that permission gives it for one purpose: writing your backup file, listing the backups it has already written so that it can replace and tidy them, and reading one back when you ask to restore. There is no other use.
Sheel’s use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. In practice: the data is never transferred to anyone, because there is nowhere to transfer it to. It is never used for advertising, never sold, never used to build a profile of you, and never read by a person. The access token that makes the connection work is held in the Android keystore on your phone.
If you switch on Health Connect sharing, Sheel writes each finished session to Health Connect on your phone, so that it appears in whatever other health app or watch you have connected there.
Sheel asks for write access only. It cannot read your steps, your heart rate, your sleep or any other health data, and it never asks to. Health data written to Health Connect stays on your device under Android’s control. You can review or revoke Sheel’s access in Health Connect at any time, and delete what it has written.
When you share a workout plan, export a backup by hand or send your history to another app, Sheel hands a file to Android’s share sheet and you choose where it goes. Sheel does not upload it and does not record where you sent it.
A shared plan carries the exercises, sets and targets only.
When you import a CSV exported from another workout app, the file is read and matched on your phone. It is not uploaded anywhere.
Sheel Pro is a one-off purchase through Google Play. Google Play handles the payment. Sheel never sees your card details, your billing address or your Google account.
Because there is no Sheel server, there is no purchase receipt held anywhere but on your device and in your Google Play account. Restoring the purchase on a new phone means signing into Play with the same Google account and tapping Restore.
Sheel asks Android for the following, and uses each only for the stated purpose:
Delete a session in the app and it is gone from the device. Uninstall Sheel and Android removes the app’s entire private storage, including your whole training history.
If you connected a cloud account, the backup files stay in that account until you delete them. Disconnecting in Sheel stops new ones being written. Removing the existing ones is done in your provider’s own app or website, in Sheel’s app folder, and revoking Sheel’s access is done in your provider’s security settings.
If a future version of Sheel changes what it stores or where it sends it, this policy changes in the same release, and the date at the top changes with it. The copy inside the app is always the copy for the version you have installed.
